Security Man - K9

Ensuring the safety of employees, guests and facilities by utilizing a trained and certified explosive detection dog to locate suspicious packages or objects that may contain explosive material.

Policies, Processes and Procedures
 Follows all relevant section policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Day- to-day operations
 Follows the day-to-day operations related to own jobs in the K-9 Security Unit to ensure continuity of work

Security Checks
 Ensure the K-9 Dogs are available and ready for the service
 Train and certify with explosive detection trained dog.
 Utilize canine as directed to protect life and property of KJO facilities and in support of designated operations.
 Search vehicles, trucks, packages, backpacks, mail, containers, rooms, buildings, areas, or other objects as directed that could contain contraband materials.
 Maintain the canine's proficiency in explosives detection through routine training. 
 Maintain the day-to-day health and welfare of assigned detection dogs, to include maintaining diet, ensuring adequate water throughout the day, and daily health checks and grooming.
 Maintain all assigned canine-related equipment.
 Report any security violation or presence of suspected contra band materials to shift captain.

Communication and Coaching
 Maintains secure communication links through wireless communication facilities with other K-9 security men to provide real time information on security matters and incidents as they develop
 Assists and guides less experienced K-9 security men to enable development of their skills and understanding of the security needs needed at KJO sites.

Safety, Quality & Environment
 Complies with all relevant safety, quality, health and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment
